M K Sankaran Namboothiri is a Carnatic musician and  playback singer. His songs combine Melody, Laya and Vidwat. Surely, he was great in all these aspects of carnatic music. Endowed with a melodious voice, Namboothiri was a much sought after musician. He could appeal to all sections of rasikas, very easily render an elaborate ragam-tanam-pallavi in uncommon talam with an unusual eduppu, regale his audience with popular and semiclassical songs.
Sankaran Namboothiri was born in 19th May 1971. His father Mr.Krishnan Namboothiri who was a Kathakali Dancer & singer and mother is Mrs.Adithi devi antharjanom. He married Smitha and couple blessed with one son.
Namboothiri started learning music at the very age of 10 under Sri. C.S Narayanan Namboothiry; pursued study under Sri. T V Gopalakrishnan, Prof. Sri. Mavelikara R. Prabhakara Varma and Late Sri. Palghat K V Narayana swamy.He completed M A Music from Calicut University in 1995.  
After the post graduation Sankaran Namoothiri became a popular Music figure.His concerts relayed by All India Radio, Chennai regularly. Namboothiri sharing his experience as a music lecturer in “ The Teacher’s College of Music” run by the Music Academy chennai and one year teaching experience in Swathi Kalakendra in Calicut Kerala( An affiliated college of Gandharava mahavidyalaya University M.P)
He would handle ragams like Kalyani, Todi, Bhairavi, Kharaharapriya, Latangi, Harikambodi, Kambodi, Keeravani, Purvikalyani, Shanmukhapriya, Shankarabharanam, Madhyamavati, Shuddasaveri effortlessly and render them with full of raga bhavam. He was at ease in rendering uncommon ragas like Bhavani, Hamsa vinodini, Urmika, Sumanesha ranjani etc.
Many music organizations all over the globe had honored Sankaran Namboothiri with titles and awards. In recognition of his scholarship By Ministry of Human Resources and Development , service to Carnatic music. He was honored with a Junior Fellowship from the Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, 1999-2000, just to name a few
